In a regional first, Maison Margiela has opened the doors to its store at The Avenues Mall in Kuwait. The aesthetic direction of the space reflects on the evolved design language of the House, as envisioned by creative director John Galliano.
The design was first introduced in the gypsum-cast set at the Artisanal Autumn-Winter 2018 show, and nods to the Maison’s iconoclast codes in façade and interiors. Spread across 210 square metres, the space houses the full range of men and women’s ready-to-wear collections, accessories, shoes, small leather goods, jewellery, and fragrances.
With its interior design encapsulating the brand’s distinct aesthetic vocabulary that treats fashion as art, the store features walls and columns appearing as detached objects. It also celebrates the human touch that has been central to the brand’s ethos.
Artful furnishings and familiar shapes fleck the space, with walls and columns dressed in individually hand-casted textile moulds. These accents are clearly evocative of the fabric textures, sculpting dents and multisensorial feel that are characteristic of Maison Margiela.
